A Dhaka court on Monday ordered that Ajay Kor Khokon, former general secretary of banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), be shown arrested in a murder case linked to the 2024 July Uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jamshed Alam passed the order, said Sub-Inspector Md Mizanur Rahman.

Earlier, on 30 July, the investigation officer of the case, Sub-Inspector Md Akhteruzzaman Sarker, filed a plea seeking to show Ajay Kor as an arrestee in the case. The court fixed Monday for the hearing in the presence of the accused.

According to the case documents, leaders and activists of the banned Awami League and its affiliated organisations, including BCL, allegedly carried out attacks to suppress the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in the Dhanmondi area in the capital on 4 August 2024.

Victim Nazmul Mia sustained a bullet injury and was later taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead. A case was filed over the killing with Mohammadpur Police Station against the named accused and 400-500 unidentified people.

Ajay Kor Khokon was arrested from the Gulshan area on 23 September 2025. He has remained in jail since then.
