The Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu has advised Bangladeshi tourists and trekkers to avoid areas of Nepal affected by heavy rainfall, floods and landslides until weather and overall conditions improve.

In a warning issued on Sunday night, the embassy urged Bangladeshis to exercise extra caution and reconsider travel plans in light of the prevailing situation.

It particularly advised travellers to remain cautious in Pisang, Chame, Manang and surrounding tourist areas. Continued rainfall and snowfall have disrupted road communications in several areas, while difficult terrain and disrupted connectivity have made rescue operations extremely challenging.

Nepali authorities have already suspended trekking in several areas of Manang, including Tilicho Lake, Thorong La Pass, Ice Lake, Kang La and Bimthang, according to the advisory.

The embassy also urged tourists to exercise caution when travelling to Pokhara and surrounding areas, where landslides have disrupted road links and access to nearby trekking destinations.

Bangladeshis planning to travel to Mustang, Jomsom and other mountainous areas have been advised to obtain updated information on road conditions in Gandaki Province, as routes may be disrupted at short notice.

The embassy advised Bangladeshis to verify all relevant information before planning trekking, mountaineering or travel to mountainous and landslide-prone areas, including the Annapurna, Manang, Mustang and Manaslu regions, and to closely follow instructions issued by the Nepal government and local authorities.

Those already travelling in vulnerable areas have been advised to stay in safe locations, avoid riverbanks and landslide-prone areas, check road and weather conditions before travelling, and remain in regular contact with their travel operators and the Bangladesh Embassy.

The embassy said it was monitoring the situation and maintaining communication with the Nepalese authorities. It will issue further updates as necessary.
