Police detained 370 people in a simultaneous anti-teen gang drive across all eight upazilas of Chandpur on Sunday.

Of them, 355 were released later after written undertakings were obtained, while the information of the remaining 15 was being verified, police said.

According to police sources, 35 people were detained in Chandpur Sadar, 48 in Haimchar, 41 in Faridganj, 37 in Hajiganj, 62 in Kachua, 45 in Shahrasti, 52 in Matlab North and 36 in Matlab South. DB police also detained 14 people from different locations.

The detainees were later handed over to their families after they signed undertakings, police said.

The drives were conducted separately by police from the eight police stations and Detective Branch (DB) personnel from after Sunday evening until 10pm.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Nadira Nur said the drive was conducted simultaneously with the participation of police from all eight police stations and the DB.

The operation was carried out on the instructions of Chattogram Range Deputy Inspector General Abdul Quddus Chowdhury and under the leadership of Chandpur Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman.

Contacted, SP Mizanur Rahman said such drives would continue to prevent teen gangs and criminal activities in the district.
