Argentina has extended Eid-ul-Azha greetings to the people of Bangladesh, once again reflecting the deep bond that has grown between the two nations beyond the boundaries of football.
The official Facebook page and X (formerly Twitter) account of the Argentina national football team shared a special Eid greeting card on Wednesday (27 May).
The post featured star footballers including Lionel Messi, Rodrigo De Paul, and Emiliano Martínez alongside the national flags of Bangladesh and Argentina.
The caption read: “On behalf of the Argentine Football Association, Eid Mubarak to everyone in Bangladesh. May Eid-ul-Azha bring peace, happiness, and endless blessings to every family.”
The overwhelming support and passion shown by Bangladeshi fans for Messi and Argentina during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar had drawn global attention. From ordinary Argentine citizens to footballers and government officials, many in Argentina expressed admiration for the affection shown by Bangladeshi supporters.
Since then, the Albiceleste have regularly shared greetings with Bangladeshis on major festivals and national occasions. Argentina’s Eid message is being seen as another symbol of how football has connected two culturally different nations despite the geographical distance.
The post quickly gained massive attention among Bangladeshi football fans on social media, with many praising Argentina’s heartfelt gesture and expressing their affection in the comment sections.
