Seven people were killed in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Mymensingh on Friday afternoon.
The accident occurred at around 1:15pm in the East Gondrapa bypass area of the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.
Mymensingh Kotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Shibirul Islam confirmed the news.
Police and eyewitnesses said a Rajib Paribahan bus travelling from Jamalpur to Dhaka collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw heading towards Muktagacha while the bus was passing through the bypass.
The auto-rickshaw was badly damaged in the collision, they said.
At least six people died on the spot, while another critically injured passenger died on the way to hospital, police said.
The OC said police were on their way to the scene after receiving information about the accident and rescue teams were also rushing there.
Traffic movement on the highway was disrupted following the crash.
The identities of the deceased and the cause of the accident could not be ascertained immediately.
