US Embassy marks American Constitution Day at DU

US Ambassador Brent T Christensen joined Law Minister Mohammad Asaduzzaman, MP, Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Abdus Salam, constitutional experts, academics and students at Dhaka University’s Senate Hall on Thursday to mark US Constitution Day.

In his speech, Ambassador Christensen highlighted how continuous debate, efforts to build consensus and the US Constitution’s emphasis on separation of powers, judicial independence and the ability to adopt amendments have contributed to its resilience and inspired democracies around the world for more than 200 years.

The programme featured a public ceremony, a panel discussion, an essay competition, a quiz contest and an exhibition of the American Founders Museum.

The event was organised to commemorate the US Constitution and highlight its role in shaping the country’s democratic institutions over the past two and a half centuries.
