Prime Minister’s Political Adviser Zahir Uddin Swapon has presented Bangladesh’s experience, challenges and future priorities in social protection at a three-day international conference organised by the Centre for Governance Studies (CGS), one of the country’s leading think tanks.
The conference, inaugurated by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, brought together representatives from nearly 100 countries, including former presidents and prime ministers of several countries.
Swapon shared the information in a Facebook post on Sunday, saying he spoke as the keynote speaker at a session titled “Experience and Way Forward of Social Protection Programmes in Bangladesh, including the Family Card.”
The UNDP moderated the session, which brought together representatives from the International Labour Organization (ILO), Malaysia, the Maldives, the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) and other countries and organisations.
Policymakers and experts exchanged views on Bangladesh’s experience in implementing social protection programmes, the challenges facing the sector and priorities for strengthening such initiatives in the future.
