PM urges nurturing children with talent and human values

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called for nurturing children not only by developing their talents but also by instilling human values in them, saying government programmes for developing children’s talents will begin fully from 2028.

He made the remarks on Tuesday (6 October) at a programme marking Children’s Rights Day and the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh Shishu Academy.

“Government activities for developing children’s talents will begin fully from 2028. If we can give children opportunities to develop, they will be able to play an important role in the country in the future. Therefore, alongside developing their talents, we must nurture them with human values,” the prime minister said.

He also urged children to become humane.

“We want to build a humane Bangladesh. Children must be raised in such a way that they embrace humanity and values and can place Bangladesh of the future on a stronger foundation,” he said.Earlier in the morning, around 150 children welcomed the prime minister when he arrived at Bangladesh Shishu Academy.

The programme formally began with the national anthem, after which the prime minister took his seat alongside the guests attending the event.

The programme was chaired by Women and Children Affairs Minister Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain. Prime Minister’s wife and Ziaur Rahman Foundation Vice-Chairman Dr Zubaida Rahman was also present.
