49th BCS: 40 more candidates appointed to education cadre

The government has appointed 40 more candidates to the education cadre under the 49th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS), according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Monday night.

The appointments were made in the second phase following recommendations from the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC).

Earlier, on 30 September, the Ministry of Public Administration appointed 611 candidates to the education cadre under the 49th BCS.

After those appointments, some BCS candidates recommended by the BPSC alleged that many of them had been left out during police verification. They subsequently launched a movement protesting the decision.

Under Monday’s notification, the newly appointed candidates have been asked to join their designated offices under the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education by 12 October.

Unless the Secondary and Higher Education Division issues further instructions, the appointees are required to join the ministry on that date.

The notification said that candidates who fail to join within the stipulated deadline will be considered unwilling to join the service, and their appointments will consequently be deemed cancelled.
