Home minister directs proper treatment for injured police officer

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has directed the hospital authorities and police to ensure the best possible medical treatment for Police Inspector (unarmed) Md Shah Alam, who was seriously injured in an attack by miscreants in Khulna.

He also assured the injured officer and his family that those responsible would be swiftly arrested, brought to justice, and given exemplary punishment in accordance with the law.

The home minister gave the directives during a visit to Evercare Hospital in the capital on Wednesday evening, where Inspector Shah Alam is currently receiving treatment.

During the visit, the minister spoke with the attending physicians and enquired about the officer’s physical condition and the overall progress of his treatment.

He instructed the hospital authorities and the Police Directorate to take all necessary measures to ensure that the officer receives advanced medical care.

The minister also assured the injured officer and his family that the perpetrators would face legal action and that steps would be taken to ensure exemplary punishment for those responsible for the attack.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir and leaders of the Bangladesh Police Association were present during the visit.

According to the information provided, Inspector Shah Alam, who is serving in the A-Circle of Khulna district, was attacked by three miscreants while travelling by rickshaw to the Police Club after completing a special operation.

The incident took place in front of Khulna Collegiate School.
