Bangladesh a country of communal harmony, mutual respect: Agri minister

Fisheries and Livestock and Agriculture Minister Mohammed Aminur Rashid on Friday said Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony, coexistence and mutual respect, calling upon all to stay united against injustice.

“All those who have been living in this country and people of all religions are equal partners in this country. So, it is the responsibility of all to make the country beautiful, peaceful and prosperous,” he said.

Aminur made the remarks while speaking at an event arranged in Cumilla this morning on the occasion of Krishna’s Janmashtami Celebration-2026.

Janmashtami, one of the major religious festivals of the Hindu community, commemorates the birth of Lord Sri Krishna.

The agriculture minister said no religion in the world tolerates injustice, unfair or evil forces.

The main lessons of all religions are to stand for human welfare, justice, beauty, compassion and peace, he said.

As a result, he said, if the welfare of the people is guaranteed, the real welfare of the society and the state will be ensured.

“Our predecessors have left us a beautiful country. So, building a more developed, humane and safe Bangladesh for the next generation is one of the main responsibilities of the present generation,” Aminur said.

He said if people of all communities show love and mutual respect to each others, the welfare of the nation is certain.

He also said the majority of the country’s people are in favour of justice, welfare and beauty.

If these people stay united, no injustice or evil force will be able to rise in the society, he said.

Janmashtami Celebration Committee member Secretary Dilip Nag Kanai and joint conveners Subrata Chowdhury Tapu and Sanjit Debnath, were present at the event, among others.

After the meeting, Agriculture Minister Aminur Rashid participated in a colourful Mongal Shobhajatra organised on the Janmashtami.
