US embassy issues fresh travel advisory for Bangladeshis

The United States Embassy in Dhaka has issued a fresh advisory for Bangladeshis wishing to travel to the US, urging prospective visitors to ensure they have sufficient financial resources, including funds to cover medical emergencies during their stay.

The advisory was posted on the embassy’s official Facebook page on Monday (3 August).

The embassy advised travellers to carefully assess their financial capacity before planning a trip to the United States, ensuring they can meet their own expenses in the event of travel disruptions or unexpected medical emergencies.

It also warned against the misuse of benefits funded by US taxpayers, stating that such actions could result in “permanent consequences”.

According to the embassy, individuals found to have abused taxpayer-funded benefits may be deemed ineligible for future travel to the United States, including for tourism, study or employment.

The advisory comes as part of the embassy’s efforts to remind prospective visitors of their financial responsibilities and the importance of complying with US immigration and public benefit regulations.
