Bangladesh’s rock community came together on 1 August at the KIB Convention Hall for The Art of Rock 5: Owned Tribute, an emotional concert dedicated to the memory of late musician and sound engineer AK Ratul.
Ratul co-founded Owned in 2007 with drummer AK Samee. As a vocalist, bassist, producer and sound engineer, he played a significant role in shaping Bangladesh’s contemporary rock scene and mentored many emerging musicians. Many in the industry credit him as one of the driving forces behind the country’s modern rock movement.

Throughout the evening, every band paid tribute by performing not only their own music but also songs by Owned, celebrating Ratul’s musical legacy and remembering the profound impact he had on their lives.

The concert featured performances by Karnival, Aftermath, Level Five, Firoze Jong, Conclusion, AK Rahul, Sin, Rockaphobic, Implicit, and Shepherds. Each band honored AK Ratul by performing not only their own music but also songs by Owned, celebrating his lasting influence on Bangladesh’s rock scene and remembering the extraordinary person he was.

More than a concert, The Art of Rock 5 became a celebration of a legacy. While AK Ratul was absent from the stage, his music, mentorship and humanity remained at the heart of every performance, reminding fans that true artists continue to live on through the music they leave behind.
