
A four-member parliamentary delegation led by Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Kayser Kamal departed for China’s Yunnan Province on Wednesday (10 June) to attend a series of high-level events and bilateral engagements.
The delegation left Dhaka at 2pm on a China Eastern Airlines flight bound for Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province.
Other members of the delegation include NCP Member Secretary and MP Akhtar Hossain, BNP lawmaker Engineer Khaled Hossain Mahbub Shyamal, and reserved-seat MP Jesmin Sultana.
Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen and senior embassy officials saw the delegation off at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
During the visit, the deputy speaker will attend the opening ceremony of the 7th China–South Asia Cooperation Forum at the invitation of the Governor of Yunnan Province.
He is scheduled to deliver a keynote address as the chief guest at the event.
The parliamentary delegation will also participate as guests at the 10th China–South Asia Exposition. Bangladesh has been designated the Theme Country for this year’s exposition and will feature its largest-ever number of trade pavilions at the event. Bangladesh’s Commerce Minister is expected to inaugurate the trade fair as chief guest.
As part of the two-day programme in Kunming, the delegation will hold meetings with the Governor of Yunnan Province and the Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China to discuss matters of bilateral interest.
On the final day of the visit, Deputy Speaker Kayser Kamal is scheduled to give special interviews to China Global Television Network (CGTN) and Yunnan National Television.
The delegation is expected to return to Dhaka on 13 June.
