
Dhaka, November 4 — The government has appointed 41 deputy attorneys general and 67 assistant attorneys general to represent it in the Supreme Court, according to notifications issued on Tuesday by the Law and Justice Division’s Solicitor Wing.
The notifications were signed by Solicitor Md Manjurul Hossain.
These appointments follow a series of recent changes in the government’s legal team. On 8 August last year, President Mohammed Shahabuddin appointed Md Asaduzzaman as Attorney General and three others as Additional Attorneys General. Five days later, nine lawyers were appointed as deputy attorneys general. Subsequently, on 28 August 2024, 66 deputy attorneys general and 161 assistant attorneys general were appointed.
The latest appointments are expected to strengthen the government’s legal representation in the Supreme Court.
