An official notification signed by High Court Division Deputy Registrar (Administration and Judicial) Md Atickus Samad, said the Bangladesh Supreme Court is the highest institution of the country’s judiciary where the chief justice and judges of both the Appellate and High Court Divisions conduct judicial functions.
“Several hundred thousand case records, including those of many important and high-profile cases, are preserved in the court. It has recently been observed that movement of outsiders and unidentified persons has increased in the National Eidgah and the fountain area adjacent to the main gate used by the chief justice to enter the Supreme Court,” it added.
Terming the situation a potential threat to the security of the Supreme Court and the International Crimes Tribunal, the authorities said outsiders’ entry into the National Eidgah ground has been strictly prohibited.
