Bangladesh national football team’s star midfielder Hamza Choudhury missed his scheduled flight to Dhaka after getting stuck in traffic on his way to the airport. The Leicester City player couldn’t reach the terminal in time and thus missed the flight.
Team manager Amer Khan confirmed that Hamza was rebooked on a later flight and is expected to arrive in Dhaka this evening. Originally, he was scheduled to land by 12 PM on Monday, but due to the flight delay, his arrival has been pushed back.
After arriving in Dhaka, Hamza will take a day’s rest before joining the national team’s training camp.
Bangladesh will play a warm-up match against Nepal on 13 November, before taking on India on 18 November in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers at the National stadium in Dhaka.
Meanwhile, Canada-based midfielder Shamit Shome is also on his way to join the team. He is expected to arrive late Tuesday night after wrapping up his season in the Canadian Premier League, where his side Cavalry FC finished runners-up, losing 2–1 to Atlético Ottawa in the final after extra time.
