The interim government has walked back its decision to appoint teachers for music and physical education in state-funded primary schools across the country.
Masud Akhtar Khan, additional secretary of the ministry’s School Division, confirmed the roll back of amendment to recruitment rules on Monday. A notification in this regard was issued Sunday, he told reporters.
On 28 August, the government issued a gazette announcing two new assistant teacher posts for music and physical education, drawing criticisms from religious groups.
Masud Akhtar Khan declined to confirm if the amendments under “Government Primary School Teachers Recruitment Rules 2025” were withdrawn in response to the criticisms.
