Bangladesh may not yet be a contender on football’s biggest stage, but local fans will soon get a rare chance to see football’s most coveted silverware up close.
As part of FIFA’s official World Cup Trophy Tour, the iconic trophy will visit Dhaka on 14 January 2026, ahead of the 2026 World Cup. The tour is organised in partnership with Coca-Cola, continuing a tradition held before every World Cup.
Fans in Dhaka will be able to view the trophy and take photographs, although the exact venue for public display is yet to be announced. Prior to arriving in Bangladesh, the trophy will be showcased in New Delhi and Guwahati, India.
This will not be the trophy’s first visit to Dhaka. The original World Cup trophy previously came to the city in 2022 ahead of the Qatar World Cup, accompanied by 1998 World Cup–winning French midfielder Christian Karembeu and a seven-member FIFA delegation. Earlier, in 2013, a replica of the trophy was also displayed in Dhaka, though only the original trophy holds official status.
FIFA rules restrict physical contact with the trophy to players from past World Cup–winning teams and heads of state; all other visitors may only view it or pose beside it.
As excitement builds for the 2026 World Cup, the trophy tour is expected to generate a festive atmosphere among football fans across participating countries.
