Indian Prime Minister Modi Prays for Khaleda Zia’s Swift Recovery

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has prayed for the swift recovery of Bangladesh’s former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

In a post on X on Monday, Modi wrote, “Deeply concerned to learn about the health of Begum Khaleda Zia, who has contributed to Bangladesh’s public life for many years.”

He added, “Our sincere prayers and best wishes for her speedy recovery. India stands ready to extend all possible support, in whatever way we can.”

On Saturday, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep concern over the health condition of the BNP chief and prayed for her swift and full recovery.

Khaleda, 80, was admitted to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka on 23 November following the advice of her medical board after being diagnosed with infections in both her heart and lungs.

She has since developed pneumonia and is currently being treated in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) under the close supervision of a combined team of local and foreign specialists.

The BNP chief has been suffering from multiple chronic health complications, including cardiovascular disease, liver and kidney disorders, diabetes, lung ailments, arthritis, and several ophthalmic conditions. She has a permanent pacemaker and previously underwent stenting due to cardiac complications.

Following her hospital admission, prayers and well-wishes have poured in from across the country and abroad.
