The Bangla Sun is on its way to becoming an icon of independent journalism. We strive every moment to be the ideal platform through which Bengal will rise in the global arena. Our mission is to ensure that no voice is left unheard. See through our lenses, listen through our voice, and discover the real story. Stay tuned!
#History
The Bangla Sun began its bold journey in December 2020 with youthful energy, courage to face challenges, and a deep sense of responsibility to serve the nation as a truly authentic news portal. We were born at a time when the world was enduring an unprecedented crisis — a global pandemic. While social life came to a halt, nothing could stop the indomitable spirit of our team. Whether from home offices or on the ground, The Bangla Sun continued to shine, keeping our readers informed and aware through our website and social media platforms.
#Objective
The Bangla Sun moves forward with a long-term vision to make young people socially conscious about themselves and their surroundings. We provide them with a platform to express their beliefs and champion their causes. We believe it is our responsibility to build a better, more just world for future generations — by producing youth-oriented content that engages, educates, and connects them with global conversations.
#Values
The strength of The Bangla Sun lies in its non-partisan and independent editorial policy. We are free from the influence of political parties, business interests, or any vested groups. Our commitment is to truth and fairness — to present events as they are, without fear or favor. We stand for rule of law, human rights, gender equality, press freedom, transparency, and accountability in governance and business. No political power can take our fairness for granted — we are answerable only to truth and our readers.
#Governing Body
The Bangla Sun is overseen by a Board of Directors, headed by a Chairman, with other members serving as Directors. The Board only manages the portal’s income and investments and has no involvement in policymaking or news content. Editorial policies are determined solely by the Editor, who is appointed by the Board of Directors.
#Organogram
The Editor leads all news, multimedia, and editorial operations. Supporting the Editor are the Joint-News-Editor and Sub-Editors for both Bangla and English sections. An Editorial Board, comprising the Joint Editor and Sub-Editors, writes editorials under the supervision of the Editor. Administrative and operational activities are managed by the Director, Operations, while finance and accounting are overseen by the Director, Finance and Admin, assisted by a Finance Manager. The Human Resources team ensures that new recruits share the same passion and principles as our organization.
#Decision-Making Practices
All major editorial and operational decisions at The Bangla Sun are made in accordance with its objectives and core values. Weekly editorial meetings—typically held on Saturdays—bring together the Editor, Joint Editor, reporters, and sub-editors to decide the course of coverage and planning.
#Capacities of Staff Members
The Bangla Sun employs a dynamic team of professionals, each an expert in their field. Our creative team specializes in digital visuals and illustrations, while our multimedia reporters cover diverse topics such as World Affairs, Bangladesh, Youth, Business, Environment, Human Rights, and more. We also produce podcasts and multimedia stories to ensure a richer news experience for our audience.
#Working Environment
The Bangla Sun fosters a healthy and inclusive working environment, believing that a positive workplace is key to excellence. We emphasize both individual growth and teamwork, encouraging collaboration and creativity. We regularly organize team-building initiatives to strengthen interpersonal relationships and ensure professional development for every staff member.
#Gender Policy
Although The Bangla Sun does not have a formal gender quota, we actively encourage and promote female journalists and nurture young journalism graduates. The portal gives priority to skilled and competent female candidates. Currently, The Bangla Sun has eight female journalists working across morning and afternoon shifts. We provide four months of maternity leave and strictly maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward gender discrimination or harassment. To date, no complaints of harassment—verbal or written—have been received from any female staff member, reflecting our safe and respectful workplace culture.
